Frequently Asked Questions
When and where do you meet?
see Training Times.
Who can train
Practically anyone from age 14 up. If you are under 14 or are enquiring for your child then
please contact me as we also have a junior club.
What does it cost?
Session fees:
    Waged
£4.00 per session or £40 for a three month period.
    Unwaged
£3.00 per session or £30 for a three month period.
Three month sessions commence in: January, April, July and October
Membership (incl. insurance): is free for the first 2 weeks, but if you
want to continue training you'll also have to pay £20 (adults) or £12 (junior)
for membership to the TJF for a year, which includes insurance.
Have you got a map?
Yes, see Training Times.
How should I prepare myself for my first session?
Just wear loose clothing: tracksuit, t-shirt, leggings, etc. Not shorts.
Remember you will be required to remove or secure all
jewellery (incl. charm bracelets, piercings). You will also need short
fingernails and toenails.
When should I come along?
Any session is fine. Beginners are always welcome.
Does the club have a social side?
Absolutely. Our club has a very strong and welcoming social scene. We regularly
go out after sessions and new members are encouraged to come along too. We also
visit other clubs and go to national events at weekends on a regular basis.
Come along and see for yourself!
I'm not very fit, is that a problem?
No. Provided you are in reasonable health. You do not need big muscles or huge
flexibility to do jitsu. Jitsu will suit most people regardless of their size,
stature, or gender.
I was never good at sport, does that matter?
Most of our members aren't. Besides, even though jitsu can be a demanding
physical activity, it is an art not a sport; more important than your athleticism is your
attitude and willingness to learn.
